The only way to get an MIT EECS master's degree is to get admitted to the MIT EECS PhD program and then quit.

Admission Threshold & Data Points

Only admits PhD students. Top students from target schools. Mainly depends on connections. The following are all PhD admission data points:

  1. Tsinghua Automation undergrad, at least 3 first-author top conference papers at time of application
  2. Tsinghua Economics undergrad, rank 1 (GPA 3.99), Jane Street QT intern, three first-author AI top conference papers at time of application
  3. Tsinghua Measurement and Control undergrad, rank 1, UMich + Stanford research intern
  4. Tsinghua CS undergrad, Finance minor, visited Stanford, two AI top conference papers at time of application
  5. Tsinghua EE undergrad, APhO Gold Medal, three years of RA experience at Tsinghua, one top physics journal publication at time of application
  6. IIT undergrad, GPA 9.3, 500 citations at time of application
  7. Mexico's top 1 university CS undergrad, GPA 9.31/10, UT PhD transfer to MIT EECS
  8. Tsinghua Physics undergrad, one APL publication at time of application, RA experience at UIUC

Job Outcomes

Unbeatable. Mainly various faculty positions -- many returned to Tsinghua. Those who go to industry mainly take quantitative roles.
